Cavendish to ride Tour of California. No Hollywood in Giro.

Cav in Cali. It's where he belongs. The man is brash and fast and dashing and charismatic and photogenic. The Giro is cool and history is great but Hollywood in not located in Milan. Team honcho Bob Stapleton made the obvious official when he announced his star sprinter will skip the Giro in favor of the Tour of California which runs from May 16th to the 23rd.

HTC-Columbia’s Eisel wins the race he dislikes: Gent Wevelgem.

"I never liked this race," said HTC-Columbia's Bernard Eisel. He might like it now. Eisel blew past a fading George Hincapie (BMC) in the last 200 meters to win the 2o10 Gent Wevelgem. Sep Vanmarcke of the little-guy Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator team earned himself a massive bonus in taking second. Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma-Lotto) snuck in for third best but was seen kicking himself and his teammate Jurgen Roelandts (Omega Pharma-Lotto) for their questionable tactics. They had the advantage in the winning six riders group.

Freire beats Boonen in Milan San Remo. Cavendish bites it on Cipressa.

Oscar the Cat wins Milan San Remo for the third time. Race pundits thought Mark Cavendish was bluffing about his form. Turns out it was Freire who had everyone fooled. Supposedly recovering from a cold and still feeling a bit under the weather, Oscar made a remarkably fast recovery. Must be those super power cough drops.
