Alberto Contador — first Switzerland, then Argentina.

Contador. Plenty at steak.

The country of Argentina is now firmly in Alberto Contador’s corner in his CAS battle against the UCI and WADA.

The Spaniard pans to kick off his racing season with a trip down to the Southern hemisphere for the 2012 Tour de San Luis. His Saxo Bank squad will join Vincenzo Nibali and Liquigas-Cannondale for the stage race that runs from January 23rd to the 29th.

That’s if he makes it to Argentina. First, there’s his career-threatening hearing at the Court for Arbitration in Sport that’s scheduled for November 21st – 24th. If he wins his case, then El Pistolero, Bjarne Riis, Specialized Bikes, the Spanish Cycling Federation and all of Argentina will rejoice.

If on the other hand, the clenbuterol debacle leads to a suspension, then there will be no trip to Argentina and Contador will have a unique opportunity to spend major quality time with his new wife Macarena Pescador. Twisted Spoke says that is one sexy name.

There’s plenty of delicious beef down in Argentina if Alberto if still interested in a good steak. The Spanish Conquistadores brought cattle to the country in 1536. He should feel right at home although some people say that Contador has officially sworn off beef.

Argentina is pulling for Alberto to win his CAS hearing because guilty verdict means no visit and a long enforced vacation in Pinto.
