Rebellin not targeted for testing. Why?

Rebellin. Where's the UCI?

This is the UCI’s idea of targeting testing?

40 year old Davide Rebellin, back from his two year doping suspension, told Gazzetta dello Sport that since his return he’s been tested just three times. “Once at my home in Monte Carlo, and twice at races.”

Rebellin tested positive for CERA EPO at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He also rides for a Miche-Guerciotti team that functions as a haven for riders convicted of doping or sacked by their teams for violations. CERA scofflaw Stefan Schumacher rides for Miche as did Michael Rasmussen until Christina Watches made him an offer.

If there was ever a rider that belongs on the suspicious list and one who merits additional testing, it’s Rebellin. His results since he has begun racing again have been, to quote the cyclingnews article, “remarkable.” What strikes us as remarkable is the lack of testing.

Rebellin won Tre Valli Varesine on Tuesday and as he crossed the finish line, he said he felt “an explosion of anger” That’s kinda what Twisted Spoke felt when we read the UCI has only tested him 3 times in over three months.

I was a fan of Tin Tin when he was back with Gerolsteiner – he was a guy that could win a race any time of the year on pretty much any terrain. Maybe it was my naïveté then, but I was surprised to see him dope – unlike Schumacher who I often was cheering to get caught. It's sad but fitting that he caught on at Miche.

Yup, that's the perfect team for him. Surprised Ricco isn't there yet. Matt

Well why would the UCI test to catch an ex-doper who is 40 and if caught again would be banned for life, which would mean no License fee from Rebelin and sine the UCI is under the same budget crunch the rest of the world they are not going to ban anyone or they'll lose yet another installment of their license fees!

It's all becoming a bit of a joke really. I love riding however, I'm losing interest in most pro cyclists now . . .
