Landis races as “arrogant bastard.”

Arrogant? Damn straight.

Bicycling Magazine’s always informative Joe Lindsey notes in his Boulder Report that FLoyd Landis raced the Nevada City Classic wearing an Arrogant Bastard Ale jersey. He got fifth, by the way, racing as a freelancer without a team, his conscience lighter and the monkey off his back or neck or soul or wherever it was hiding.

Love him or hate him, you have to appreciate the mad Mennonite. Armstrong has Michelob Ultra, his lifestyle beer of choice, brewed by the corporate Anheuser suds corporation. Meanwhile Landis has his angry, over-hopped micro-brew with the image of devilish horned creature with wings. The man has a firm understanding of humor and irony and as always a unique application of said humor.

On the Arrogant Bastard website, the jersey is described thusly: “There is NO better way to let your fellow riders know your true character as you close in on them from behind or as you pull ahead and leave them sucking your dust.”

True character? Well, it’s a fair question is ask which one? Seems like Armstrong and Landis could share a few rounds with Lance taking the Arrogant and Landis the Bastard. Have to wonder what Greg Lemond’s beer of choice is these days.

Further research brought us to the absolutely mandatory Beer Bicycling Jerseys page where the Bastard-wear is listed as featuring these slogans: “You’re Not Worthy”, “Hated By Many, Loved By Few” and “Liquid Arrogance.” Does that not sum up large chucks of the whole Landis & Armstrong debacle? I feel like buying one right now just on general principle.

We’ll always be in Floyd’s corner because he’s an original, an immensely talented rider who made us laugh. If you think Landis is a liar and a cheat — and an arrogant bastard —  we suspect that before this whole dope firestorm is over, you’ll have to throw a few other riders in that category.

No matter what happens, sales of Arrogant Bastard Ale are on the ultra-upswing.

Thinking that the “AB” jersey fits some others in the peloton as well, maybe better than Floyd. And for sure Greg’s brew is some kind of Bitters……

Well, I am one of the few who love Floyd, and I LOVE the Arrogant Bastard kit (though yes it IS over hopped). I know people think I’m stupid and *I* in particular should be angry since I spent 3 years of my life working for TBV, but alas I know Floyd and if you really know him, you really love him.

Strbuk, yup, I suspect if I met Floyd he’d have me laughing all the time. Btw, what’s TBV?

but Landis is definitely not "Loved by Few" here – wow, the Landis love overfloweth!

You guys should start a club or something, maybe donate more moo-la for the Mennonite's next round of battles w/ the Boss? Just an idea.

Sorry for the huge review, but I'm really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it's the right choice for you.
