Kangaroo man ready to help Evans in Tour de France.

There are plenty of Australians behind BMC’s Cadel Evans, hoping, wishing, willing him to victory in this year’s Tour de France.

Ben Smith made the trip from the home country with a kangaroo on his back but he’s ready to donate the animal to Evans to give him that extra hop — the jump he may need to make the podium after several second places.

Evans may be the reigning world champion in the road race but the 2010 edition of Le Tour promises to be particularly brutal. Any advantage, however bizarre or strange, could be the difference between a crowning triumph and flying back to Australian in coach wearing a disguise.

The way Smith figures it, the mate Evans is just 39 seconds away from the coveted maillot jaune and the inflatable marsupial may provide the necessary additional boost in power.

Smith says if he can connect with Evans, the kanga is his. First, however the UCI will have to scan the animal just be to sure, you know, it’s legal.

Does Evans need roo power?
