Hoogerland hit by French TV car again while racing horse.

Hoogerland nailed by car in Netherlands.

Johnny Hoogerland was hit by a car while racing a horse at a charity event in the Netherlands.

The incident occurred in the decisive third race against a trotter named “Unforgettable.” Hoogerland was there to raise money for children with cancer but as he raced toward the finish-line, a car suddenly veered onto the course, knocking Hoogerland into the horse, then flipping to the ground.

The Dutchman landed on a grass field and was fortunate to suffer only minor injuries and deep bruising. The car disappeared from view but several spectators and video taken at the scene indicate the car was from French Television.

The astonishing collision was eerily reminiscent of what occurred during stage nine of this year’s Tour de France. Hoogerland and Juan Antonio Flecha of Team Sky were in a breakaway when they were sideswiped by a car from French Television. Hoogerland was thrown into a barbwire fence and received extensive wounds requiring 33 stitches.

Hoogerland reacted just as calmly as he did after the collision during the Tour.  “It might be a scandal but I don’t think they did it in purpose. Everything’s well taken care off over here but… you can be mad but I don’t think they did it in purpose,” said Hoogerland. “Because of the crash in France I didn’t get to keep my King of the Mountains jersey but I really wanted to beat that horse.”

Police are currently searching for the French car and are interviewing officials with French television. At this time there is no reason to believe that the driver of this car is the same one who hit Hoogerland during the Tour.
