This just in from the PR folks who work with Team BMC’s George Hincapie — what he’s listening to as he prepares for his final ride in Paris-Roubaix.
Note the thematic influences that clearly point to the Hell of the North this Sunday. Song titles like: “I Can’t Stop” — nope, not on those cobblestones. “Come and Get It” — yeah, an obvious reference to the pain and suffering that awaits on the Carrefour de l’Arbe. “Float On” by Modest Mouse must surely be about the need to hold the bars gently and float over the cobblestones while “Memories” featuring Kid Cudi is no doubt a nostalgic journey back to all George’s memories as he rides his last Paris-Roubaix.
Twisted Spoke says listen up and enjoy and check this link for Hincapie’s thoughts on music and his life on and off the bike.
Geez. I haven’t heard of half of those bands. Yet, I’m the same age as George. Last night, a
friend’s daughter asked “Daddy, what are The Beatles?”
Would be cool if Big George could pull of a miracle win in what has to be (maybe) his last go at Roubaix but alas I think it is not to be
I’d add “Pump it up” by Elvis Costello and “Don’t Cha Stop” by The Cars.
