Cavendish beats two kids in Oman.

Cavendish wins Big O.

Cavendish whipped those two boys good.

Did Denis Galimzyanov (Katusha) and Andrea Guardini (Farnese Vini-Neri) think they were gonna beat the Manxman, the Boy Racer, the guy with 15 sprint stage wins in the Tour of France? The guy with the autobiography and model girlfriend?

Is that what Denis and Andrea were thinking as they blasted down the Mattrah Seafront? Sure Cavendish has had a few crashes and is not his usual killer self but really, did those two kids think they were capable of beating him.

Maybe Katusha’s special sprint coach Mario Cipollini has been working with Galimzyanov, teaching him how to position himself, wear cologne and kiss podium girls, but that’s not enough lessons to beat Cavendish.

Besides, they ain’t got no trains. HTC-Highroad delivered Cavendish to the line perfectly. And double besides, Greipel had just won the day before. In other words, motivation was high.

Which was bad news for Denis Galimzyanov and Andrea Guardini because it was the final stage of the Tour of Oman, the Big O and that belonged to Cavendish. Account open, win in bank, time to leave the desert.

Postscript: Daniele Bennati (Leopard Trek) did not finish second once again. He mixed things up with an 11th place.
