An Omani on a Hero.

An Omani on a Hero.

A Hero in Oman.

Intrigued by the video of Jabiz Raisdana riding his Indian made Hero bike through Qatar, we found this picture of a Hero in Oman. Consider it our little prologue to the Tour of Oman which starts Sunday.

The four Munjal brothers, hailing from a small town called Kamalia, now in Pakistan, began Hero in 1944 with production of 25 bikes a day.

They’ve come a long, long way since then. Heros are all over the planet and in 1986 Hero Cycles Limited entered the Guinness Books of World Records as the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world.

Team Sky, Quick Sep, Liquigas and BMC aren’t using the Hero in the Tour. But plenty of Omani fans will be riding one over to see the racing.
