2014 Grand Tour winners already announced.

JRod to win two grand tours.

So many race winners in December before the races begin.

Chris Froome says he can win another Tour de France and he’s motivated to give the effort 100%. Joaquin Rodriguez says he can win both the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a Espana while smoking a small cigar.

Well, that pretty much locks up the three grand tours, Huh? Here we are a few days short of 2014 and we already know who will win these high profile races. We can all go back to bed.

Now, sure, they didn’t guarantee the wins but it’s nice to hear the bold talk. Vincenzo Nibali is confident he can win the Tour and his teammates think he’s the only rider with a shot at cracking Sky.

Alberto Contador is playing it rather subdued with his December pronouncements. Cadel Evans is quietly confident of his chances in the Giro and Richie Porte isn’t going out on a limb about bagging the Giro.

Andy Schleck is just happy to be riding with his brother Frank and not dealing with the autocratic Johan Bruyneel. He’s not saying anything about a podium in Le Tour.

December is that time of year for loose talk and boundless optimism. Then the races begin and reality sets in. But for know, let the pre-winners make noise.
