Radio Shack not retiring.

The Boss is double gone and busy dealing with 60 minutes of trouble and guys in suits from the FBI. He’s definitely hors de combat and 100% done in more ways than one.

However, his former Radio Shack team is still riding high after the leaked news that sponsors Nissan, Trek and electronic gizmo giant Radio Shack are now signed on through the end of 2013.

Business is business and the deal is always winning. Make all the fancy pitches about brand awareness and sponsor mentions and dollar per impression, this team was saved in a five week period, an amazing run of wins from May 15th to June 19th.

In that intense time frame, Chris Horner and Levi Leipheimer went one-two in the Tour of California in front of all the American sponsors. Then in the Tour de Suisse, Leipheimer came from behind in a brilliant victory in the Tour de Suisse.

The triple bonus came not from the old diesel power guys but a young gun from Wisconsin named Matthew Busche, who won the stars and stripes jersey of US champion after stellar work for Horner in California.

That’s three major results in five weeks. As Jonathan Vaughters once tweeted, “boom muthafukas.” That is taking care of business and props to everyone wearing the red and black of Radio Shack.

Suddenly the Tour de France sounds even more exciting and Johan Bruyneel can now go on a shopping spree.

Lance is long gone but the Shack is indeed back.

Great news! And I read it here first–lol! Radio Shack just has a nice ring to it for a cycling team, you know? They only need to scale down that gigantic "R" on the front of the jerseys now 😛
