Evans attacks again in Tirreno-Adriatico. A world champion snarl.

Insensitive and loving it!

Cadel “Junkyard Dog” Evans snarls again.

It’s March and a few big time stage racers are already showing off their form. Alberto Contador looks positively scary after winning Paris-Nice for a second time.

Alejandro Valverde and Samuel Sanchez made it clear they’re ready to race. Top riders like Michael Rodgers and Robert Gesink are marking their presence felt.

Meanwhile Cadel Evans is not only showing off his form, but showcasing his World Champion, Rainbow Jersey, Bad-Ass attitude. Since his personality transformation in Mendrisio, Evans has become an attacking rider.

He began his season at the Tour Down Under with a few bland “I’m just here to meet my teammates” quotes then proceeded to light up the race with attacks on every hill he could find.

The Aussie fans went nuts. The New Evans doesn’t believe in sitting on wheels and calculating odds. He’s an assassin now.

Yes, he’s mean, nasty and when he smells blood, he goes full gas. The old Evans would have lost the opportunity while debating whether it was in fact blood or just catsup.

Twisted Spoke firmly believes Evans rides clean but based on his new racing style, you’d think he’d switched blood bags with Alejandro Valverde. Crazy stuff.

Sunday in stage five of Tirreno-Adriatico, Evans was once again in rapid dog mode. “Someone must die!” Sensing weakness in race leader Michele Scarponi, he hammered him on the climb up to Colmurano.

“When you can get some like Scarponi on the ropes, you go with all you can,’ Evans said after the stage. Do not mess with Cadel Evans and do not make him angry. He’s voracious, a brutal opportunist, he hates your guts.

Today, Evans woke up with the same thought he now has every morning: who am I gonna abuse today? Who shall I rip to pieces because I am world champion and must torture them with my bike. So once again, he attacked Scarponi, gained a valuable time bonus and put himself on the podium in Tirreno-Adriatico with one stage remaining. Snarl accomplished.

It’s said that the yellow jersey gives a man wings. The rainbow jersey gave Evans the one thing he was missing: a mean streak.

hmmmm…I'm still not convinced. There's just no way anyone in the peloton should let a man (?) w/ a miniature terrier-named-Molly finish on the podium again.
