There is bicycle magic in Qatar.

Something of haunting beauty and poetic simplicity from the capital city of Doha. No, it’s not ProTour teams racing at warp speed in the Tour of Qatar. It’s a long way from Boonen and Haussler battling for position.

It’s a short, sweet, homemade video by Jabiz Raisdana of his ride around Doha on hisĀ Indian made bicycle The Hero. It’s a charming little story in visual haiku.

A teacher at the Compass International School, he calls his video a “subtle commentary on the labor involved in building a 21st century city out of sand.” But that makes it seem way too heavy.

In essence, it’s a beautiful reminder that each time we climb on our bikes we becomes kids again, with boundless curiosity and wide open eyes.

Enjoy.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am really glad you found something worthwhile in my “Visual Haiku.”

I appreciate that you are sharing it with your readers. Too bad we didn’t get to meet while you were here in Doha. If you are still here, drop me a line.
